"What is Mastodon?"
"It's a competition to see who can find the funniest domain name for their instance"
"I thought it was a social network?"
"Yeah it's that too, I suppose"
No se usar aún mastodon, alguien que no sea de mis primos me lee???
So a feature I think mastodon instances could really use is for instance A to "log into" an account on instance B and show the content there.
Twidere on my phone can show feeds for masto dot social, or cybre dot space, or whatever. But if I open up the cybre dot space site, it'll only show me my cybre dot space feed. There's no Mastodon web interface that asks you what instance you want to "log into" and view content from.
One feature I’ve wanted for ages but no client implements.
User specific mute filters.
For example: I follow some people that tweet really interesting technical details about things I’m really interested in, and occasionally 20 artistically taken black and white photos of food.
Welcome new people! 👏 👋

I went to order my afternoon latte and my barista asked me about Mastodon.
Seriously. This actually happened.
All he knows is that I sit in his coffee shop all day working on something having to do with Twitter and that there's a bunch of bad news about Twitter today.
I'd like to make leaving Twitter more convenient for anyone inclined to jump, and I've noticed one of the things that keeps me there is it's where a bunch of media outlets post and they don't run accounts here.
So I'm starting up a GamesIndustry.biz account that will toot out stories for people who want to keep up with industry news:
tired: using someone's Mastodon instance
wired: self-hosting your own Pleroma instance
inspired: building your own raw ActivityPub stream
Super rough list of features I’d perhaps want to see in a hypothetical Mastodon client:
Hola a todos mis sobrinos, les mando un ❤️ fuerte abrazo por este medio porque ya no nos vemos 😪
Apple is pushing subscription apps hard. I personally think it's probably a good idea, but I also personally avoid subscriptions like the plague. I don't know how to square that circle. https://www.businessinsider.com/apple-secret-meeting-developers-new-york-subscriptions-app-store-2018-7
